Privacy Policy
Effective October 9, 2026
In short
Lark PDF Reader does not collect, upload, or share your documents or personal data. No ads or trackers. The only thing sent to us is an anonymous count of active devices, with no ID, and you can turn it off.
Data that stays on your device
The PDFs you open, your recent list, favorites, bookmarks, reading positions, and settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. We cannot access them.
Uninstalling the app or using "Clear history" in settings deletes all of it.
When the app uses the internet
Only for donations through Google Play, downloading language models for on-device features (OCR, translation, AI), opening PDFs from links you choose, and the anonymous count below. Your documents are never sent anywhere.
Anonymous count of active devices
So we know how many people use Lark PDF, while the app is open on screen it sends one tiny signal per minute to our server (Cloudflare). It contains only the app version and whether the app was just opened.
The signal carries no device ID, advertising ID, account, or document content. The server does not store IP addresses, phone models, or location; it keeps only totals per minute and per app version, deleted after 40 days. With no ID, the count cannot be linked to you or your device.
Turn it off anytime in Settings > Privacy > Anonymous usage count.
Permissions
Internet: for the purposes above.
All files access (optional): requested only if you turn on All PDFs, to find PDF files on your device. You can revoke it anytime in Android Settings.
The app does not request camera, location, contacts, or microphone permissions. The document scanner uses the camera through Google Play services.
Android backup
If Android backup is on, the system may back up settings, favorites, and bookmarks to your Google account. Passwords and signatures are never included.
Google Play may collect diagnostic data such as crash reports under Google's Privacy Policy.
Donations are processed by Google Play; we never receive your card or payment details.
Scan, OCR, translation, and AI features use Google's ML Kit, which may send device info, app info, and performance metrics to Google, never document contents.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If a new feature changes how data is treated, this page is updated before that feature ships and the date above changes.
